We've Raised £1.6M - and We're Just Getting Started

We're thrilled to announce that xWatts has secured £1.6M in seed funding, led by Cambridge Enterprise Ventures with support from Cambridge Angels, Parkwalk, and R42.

We're thrilled to announce that xWatts has secured £1.6M in seed funding, led by Cambridge Enterprise Ventures with participation from Cambridge Angels, Parkwalk, and R42. This is a major milestone for our team and a significant step forward in our mission to decarbonise the world's most complex real estate.

Why We Built xWatts

xWatts was founded in 2022 by our CEO Yigit Akar and co-founder Alex Allen, who met at the University of Cambridge. Yigit brings deep expertise in renewable infrastructure, having previously commissioned large-scale wind and solar plants across Europe and Turkey. Alex's background spans computer science and control systems engineering, with years spent on major corporate infrastructure and building energy simulations. Together, we identified a fundamental problem: large estates run energy-intensive systems that aren't coordinated, optimised, or responsive and nobody was solving it at the root.

Beyond Monitoring — Actual Control

Most energy platforms stop at reporting. We don't. Our AI and machine learning platform connects directly to existing building management systems to model facilities in real time and autonomously optimise everything from HVAC and solar installations to combined heat and power units, across the full chain from generation to demand. We don't just tell you what to do. We do it for you.

Our mission is straightforward but ambitious: to decarbonise the world's most complex real estate in a way that is intelligent, automated and scalable.

Real Results, Right Now

This isn't a future promise, it's already happening. Our platform has been deployed across NHS Hospitals, Community Diagnostic Centres, and college facilities at the University of Cambridge, consistently delivering over 25% reductions in energy consumption. In manufacturing settings, we've optimised operations to the point of cutting carbon output while saving more than £2 million annually in energy costs. Our revenues have tripled annually over the past two years.

A Market That Can't Wait

We're addressing the massive energy consumption of non-domestic buildings across Europe, a market worth £550 billion per year. By focusing on complex estates with energy-intensive systems, we target a core market of £53 billion where typical savings of 20% can be achieved, representing a potential saving of over £10 billion annually for the industry.

What Comes Next

This funding will accelerate our product development, deepen our AI-driven optimisation capabilities, and drive expansion across key European markets, with a sharp focus on healthcare, higher education, and industrial real estate, where the need is greatest and the impact is largest.

We're grateful for the confidence our investors have placed in us, and energised by what lies ahead. The built environment is one of the biggest levers we have in the fight against climate change. The technology is ready. The market is ready.

Now we scale.
